Call it a matter of fate or pure coincidence, Ekta Kapoor is now set to replace Smriti Irani’s much-hyped show Virrudh with a K-soap on Sony TV. If sources are to be believed, Ekta has been busy with those customary high profile meetings to determine the content of her brand new soap and auditions for actors are already underway.

In the meanwhile, Smriti’s contract with the channel comes to a close next month, as she will complete filming 104 episodes by then. Apparently, the channel heads are not in a mood to renew the contract because of the show’s poor TRPs and have settled for Ekta’s new soap for the 9.30 pm time slot.

A series of factors can be blamed for the early exit of Virrudh. While Smriti ensured big publicity plans for the show, it never really went down well with the viewers. Also, it was an expensive show for the channel as the cast included popular faces like Achint Kaur and Sushant Singh. Says a reliable source from the channel, “A lot of money was involved as we had big telly stars. Unfortunately, the show never commanded high TRPs. We have had several meetings with Smriti’s creative team but nothing could get the show working. We are unlikely to renew the contract as we are getting a new show to replace it.”

As the story of Virrudh evolves, the distances between the Raisighania family members’ keeps on increasing. Dhirendra continues to brainwash the members of the family to go against Vasudha. While Vasudha, on seeing her family breaking up, decides to make things right between her and Dhirendra. Dhirendra continues to play games with Vasudha, but asking her about Shahlini. To add to the turmoil, Vedika hears the entire conversation between Vasudha and Dhirendra. Vedika confronts Dhirendra about Shahlini, to which he bluntly replies that Shahlini is the one who shot him., this makes Vedika hate Vasudha even more. Vedika fails to understand that why would Vasudha take sides of the woman who tried to kill their father.

According to industry sources, Apara Mehta is no longer a part of Virrudh. Although the actress entered the show with a lot of expectations, her role seems to have lost its track and she is completely out of the picture now.

Initially, Apara used to shoot for Virrudh 18 days a month. One month later, Apara was shooting for 3-4 days a month and gradually she completely stopped shooting for the show. For the past two months, Apara has not shot a single day for Virrudh.

Naina Chopra is supposed to be a beautiful stylish woman. “Yes this time I won’t be in my usual style. In this role viewers would find me more glamorous with designer wears and maybe more in minis.”

Back are the Daily Soaps, Back we are to the World of Fiction and Drama in Sony after a week-long Musical Journey with Indian Idol. Virrudh, the power-packed serial on Sony will witness more twists this week, as there will be a murder attempt on Dhirendra Raisinghania. With Raisinghania rushed the the hospital, there will enter a new character in Virrudh played by Anoop Soni.

Anoop Soni will play the role of Inspector Vikram Agarkar, the special investigating officer to investigate the attack on Dhirendra. We caught up with Anoop Soni to know more about his role and importance in the serial.
