After the super success of Indian Idol 3, season 4 is just around the corner. The wait for the same ends in September as the season takes off on Sony Entertainment channel. But what is unique this time is the fact that there is a solo host. Earlier seasons had two hosts with Mini Mathur being the constant at all three earlier seasons.This season Mini has opted out as she is pregnant. “This time only Hussain will be hosting the show. There is no female co-host. It will be a one- man show. The time slot will definitely be prime time following last year’s popularity,” says a source.

Sony is back with the fourth season of its popular music based reality show Indian Idol 4 In an attempt to make it bigger and better the channel had roped in actress Sonali Bendre as a judge who was recently seen as a judge on Mr. & Miss TV.
The channel has retained Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar from its earlier season and along with Sonali the channel has roped in singing star Kailash Kher to adjudicate.
Albert Almeida, Executive VP and Business Head, Sony said, “Sonali Bendre is the fourth judge on the show who will be joining Anu Malik, Javed Akhtar and Kailash Kher on the show.”

A Doctor by profession, Meiyang Chang has a new remedy up his sleeves now, for his patients and his fans, - ‘His unusual soothing voice and his rocking numbers’. The whole nation has been in awe of ‘Chingoo Mingoo’ ever since he took to the stage of Indian Idol as a contestant. Very jovial in nature and pleasing to talk to, Chang is a Gentleman to the Core.

Ousted participant of Indian Idol 3, Richa Aneja must be regretting her high-handed attitude with fellow participant Prashant Tamang, now the third Indian Idol. Richa Aneja had earlier refused to sing with Prashant, fearing his performance would bring hers down. She was afraid that her partnership with Prashant would reduce her chances of winning the contest. But unfortunately while Richa was soon voted out, Prashant went on to win the Indian Idol 3 crown. How does Richa feel about the guy she had trashed, the guy who was eventually crowned the third Indian Idol?

Prashant Tamang is The Bharat Ki Shaan, The Indian Idol 3! Hailing from Darjeeling, Prashant has now become the Boy Next door, as he has managed to walk into the hearts of the people of India, with his lively songs. After months of hard work, perseverance and dedication, the 24 year old Prashant Tamang reached to the winning title in grand style. From being a part of the police force in Kolkata, to being the youth icon of the country, Prashant surely has come a long way. With a total of 7 crore votes that came in, Prashant Tamag got away with the maximim votes. “I would like to thank the Indian Idol Platform, the judges, my mother and the Kolkatta police force” said the winner. Prashant is now a proud owner to the Maruti S4, along with a one crore contract with Sony, and much more.

Prashant Tamang and Amit Paul, the two finalists of Indian Idol 3, are staying at Lyods Estate (15th floor) in Wadala (Mumbai) – the same place where last year’s finalists Sandeep and Karunya prepared for their big day. Though Prashant and Amit were not present when we visited the place, we asked some residents of the area about the two singers from North East India.
Padmaja, who has been staying there for the past two years, says, “Both of them are nice but Amit can sing all kinds of songs, which is not case with Prashant. They do not have any attitude problems at all. They are not allowed to talk to others but do interact with us. The kids here especially like Amit and he too plays with them. He is a very polite person and I am definitely going to vote for him. I want to go for the finals in Delhi and have even asked Amit for passes. He promised me that he is going to give it to me.”
