Sai Deodhar, who was last seen in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, has been roped in to play four powerful women of the Vedic period in Chandra Prakash Dwivedi’s Upanishad Ganga. Sai will play Savitri, Devyani, Nati and Gargi. The show revolves around a series of stories and teachings of the Upanishads and the Vedic times. A core team of Chinmaya Mission scholars have researched and conceptualised the show. The actors of the show include Sai, Abhimanyu Singh and a host of actors from New Delhi’s NSD (National School of Drama).
Says Sai, “I play four different characters, something I have never done before. It’s a period show and I am extremely nervous, I hope I will be able to pull it off. I have to speak Sanskrit and recite shlokas. I had to learn the language from Dwivediji and his wife. I play some of the strongest women of Indian history, they were all very learned and tough.”

The 2 year long run of Ek Ladki Anjaani Si comes to an end as the serial plans to wrap up on 12th September. The story which started off as the tale of an 18 year old ambitious, yet playful Ananya, went thro many twists and turns, which included Kanchi Kaul being replaced by Sai Deodhar. The real-life jodi of Shakti Anand and Sai Deodhar kept the serial going with their awesome chemistry for nearly one year now. But every good thing has to come to an end, so can this serial be an exception?
Our sources say that Sony has planned to give a new look to their serial slots, one such unique concept which is in the launch stage is Amber Dhara. “The recent soaps on Sony have not managed to garner good TRPs; hence the channel is now looking forward to newer programs”, seems to be the motto of the channel now.

Ek Ladki Anjaani Si is set to go off air on September 12. As a result, Sai and Shakti Anand who are both working in the show, and have carved an identity through it, will now be jobless. Shakti has been working in the show for the last two years while Sai joined it last year. The duo rejected lots of offers from the television industry in India and abroad, while they were doing the show. So where do they go from here now?
Says Sai, “Mine is a mixed reaction now, about the show ending. The show has been such a part of my life for the last one year and has been getting good TRPs. I will miss it a lot. And yes, I do regret not taking on a couple of shows which were offered to me by producers from Dubai. And a couple of offers from the television industry here as well. They were to begin in September-October this year, so I had no dates. It is late to rethink about those shows now. I am feeling a bit insecure, since I don’t know if I’ll be shooting tomorrow. This profession is very unpredictable these days.”
