Woh Rehne Wali… finds its ‘Rani’

Stars come and go but the show must go on. Rajshri productions have roped in an entire new star cast for their premier show Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki on Sahara One. Rookie actor Neha Janpandit will take over from Reena Kapoor as the lead actress.The 20-year-old Ruia college student began her career with modelling and a year later she finds herself playing the lead role in Woh Rehne…. She’s also a trained dancer in Kathak and Bharatnatyam. “I’ve been in this industry for a year. I tried my luck at acting and luckily, I successfully auditioned for this show,” says Neha.
What do you when you want to get rid of the daughter-in-law of the house? Well, it’s simple. You merely arrange for her doppelganger. That’s precisely what’s going to take place in Sahara One’s Doli Saja Ke. Lead actress Barkha Bisht will now be seen in a double role.A reliable source informs, “Barkha will be playing a double role. In the current track, Anupama’s (Barkha) in-laws are unhappy with the change in her attitude. One fine day, they happen to spot her duplicate in the market. That’s when they decide to get rid of Anupama by brining the imposter to the house.”The lead actors Barkha, Indraneil and producer-actor Aroona Irani remained unavailable for comment. However, another actor, on condition of anonymity said,’Yes, it’s true that Barkha will be seen in a double role. You’ll have to speak to her to find more details.”
For several weeks, Reena Kapoor maintained that she was in a dilemma whether to quit Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki or not? Well, she has finally made up her mind. Reena’s decided to quit the show.Reena’s departure is also resulting in a change of track with the show opting for a generation leap. Confirming the news, Reena says, “yes, there will be a generation leap but I’m not going to be a part of it. I didn’t want to play an older character thus I chose to quit the show.”Reena alone isn’t bidding good bye to the show. There will be more casualties. “From what I know is that 95% of the cast will be new. I reckon they’ve lined up for a new Rani,” added Reena.
Indraneil Sengupta has been pencilled as a participant in the next edition of Sahara One’s celeb music show Jhoom India. Not many know that this hot looking actor is also a good singer. He is excited about the show. This is a kind of reality show that he always wanted to be a part of, he says. Jhoom India is an Optimystix production. Indraneil Sengupta is currently acting in Doli Saja Ke Rakhna of Sahara One.
A journey that began three years ago has reached its destination. Seasoned actress Shagufta Ali has bowed out of Rajshri’s production’s Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki but not before she completed 700 episodes. In her last episode, which was broadcast on 16 May, Danima (Shagufta) passes away in the hospital.An emotional Shagufta says, “To say that I’m sad would be an understatement. Three years is a long time to be associated with any show. You get emotionally attached not just to the show but also your co-actors. It’s been a great experience for me. Above all, I’m happy with the way my character (Danima) had shaped up.”
Don’t blame the Indian Premier League, the axe was hanging dangerously on three shows of Sahara One anyway. Well, the time’s finally up for Zaara, Solhah Singaarr and Main Aisi Kyun Hoon. The three shows will wind up at the end of this month.When contacted Sahara One Programming Head Kalyan Sundaram said, “There are a few shows which are under the gun but I can only comment on their fate after a week.”
Veteran actress Krutika Desai has replaced Anisha Ahuja to play step-mother to lead Srejita De in Annu Ki Ho Gaye Waah Bhai Waah. Strangely, Krutika has replaced Kamya Punjabi to play the lead Reena Kapoor’s first mother-in-law in Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki on Sahara One.Krutika says, “It is a mere coincidence. Now I would get to play either mother or mother-in-law. My character in Annu Ki Ho… has gray shades where as it’s a positive role that I am essaying in Woh Rehne Wali… For this particular role, DJ Creations touched base with me and I accepted it because I really liked both my role and the concept of the show.”
It was only time before the inevitable happened. Samiksha Jug has finally quit Zaara. Replacing her is Sonia Kapoor who initially won’t be coming in as Zaara.
